Train Journey to Kishoreganj

Explore the enchanting experience of a train journey to Kishoreganj

There’s something quietly adventurous about taking a local train in Bangladesh—especially when the destination is as charming as Kishoreganj. Recently, I took a trip from Dhaka to Kishoreganj on the Egarosindur Provati, and while the journey had its rough edges, it turned out to be a memorable experience.

I started early in the morning, catching the Egarosindur Provati from Dhaka Biman Bandar Station. The train itself was quite old, with PT INKA (Indonesia) coach that clearly had seen many years of service. The seats were worn, the windows slightly dusty, and the overall condition wasn’t the most comfortable. On top of that, the train was extremely crowded. People were packed into almost every available space, and at times it felt a bit overwhelming. Some passengers weren’t particularly polite either, which added a bit of tension to the journey.

But despite all that, there was a certain charm to it. As the train moved out of the city and into the countryside, the scenery began to change—and that’s where the real beauty of the trip revealed itself. Endless green fields, scattered villages, rivers glistening under the sun, and people are going about their daily lives—it was peaceful and refreshing. The scenic beauty made me forget about the discomfort for a while.

After arriving in Kishoreganj, I had the chance to enjoy some local food. I kept it simple: two pieces of paratha, one egg, and a serving of dal. Sometimes, the simplest meals are the most satisfying, and this was definitely one of those moments. The food was delicious—warm, flavorful, and comforting after the long journey.

I didn’t stay too long, but the short visit was enough to leave a good impression. When it was time to return, I took the same train back to Dhaka. The return journey was quite similar—crowded and a bit chaotic—but by then, I was more prepared for it.

Overall, the trip wasn’t perfect, but that’s what made it real. Between the crowded train, the rustic travel experience, the beautiful countryside, and the simple yet delicious food, it became a journey worth remembering. Sometimes, it’s not about luxury—it’s about the stories you bring back.
